Stardate:2406.10.06 (Shipping Trawler Archimedes - Bridge- OPS – Lt.Cmdr Edward Gideon - 0900) Edward smiled to himself it was a comical situation; his family generations ago had been hunted and feared by humans. Although now he walked among them and he had to wonder if they ever had an idea he was different to them. Edward looked at the operations consol of the trawler it was an undesired change of scenery. With this break away faction of rebels the 52nd fleet he had no desire to be away from his ship. What had come, as more of a shock was the fact that days before he took the position on a temp basis an old friend had contacted him requesting some help? Edward had always wondered the motives behind people coming from the past, they in a majority of times brought either bad memories or thoughts of the hunts that still were held in his mind from hundreds of years ago. This man did not bring bad memories on the contrary this man brought back fond memories of the academy years. (Earth – Starfleet Academy – Cadet Edward Gideon – age 20 – 04:00) Edward looked up from the empty glass that was on the table, his increased metabolism allowed him to absorb Romulan Ale at an increased pace to that of his human counterparts. The man that had collapsed opposite him was no exception. Edward stretched out his hand and poked the man in the head. The man stirred and then looked up with blood shot eyes. "Ed, I'm jealous how well you can handle your ale, my head feels like it is about to explode," The man looked ruff and the stubble clung to the mans face. Ed smiled and then spoke. "Well John you are aware we graduate in approx four hours and I think a majority of our class is passed out lying around here. Should be a fun graduation," Ed laughed. The situation was most comical. "Should be a better holiday to Risa." "How about I sleep and you wake me up in 3 hours!" John stated, Ed winked and John's head flew and cracked the table once more. Ed pulled his lips to the side knowing that Wilson would feel very sorry for himself in several hours. Edward smiled earlier that night they had posted the end class listings. As was the norm for his people the need to hide there abilities had resulted in him coming mid class level. Even now the federation had sworn acceptance of species, his mind was still full of events of the past and the suffering of his people. In this one man though John had found a friend and a trusted ally. (PX9485 – Spec Op – Lt. Edward Gideon – age 24 – 01:00) Edward continued to run feeling his body burn with every footstep, the disruptor fire still whistled over the heads of the team. As Edward stopped to fire his rifle to hopefully stop some of the Dominion advance. As he aimed down the rifle he gentle squeezed the trigger, the burst of energy flew from the barrel and struck the Jem’Hadar in the chest throwing him backward. As Ed aimed once more it dawned upon him, capture meant death. Edward felt his hearts accelerate and begin pumping more blood ready from action. Looking around the woods he saw the other members of the team laying down cover fire for the retreating POW’s. As Ed aimed for another target his com device kicked in. "Alpha leader to all Charlie’s, pull to evac point delta," Edward smiled at the reassuring voice of Wilson. It was strange how once man could inspire so much confidence. Edward’s despair dripped away as he made a short shuttle run forward to collect a stumbling POW. As Edward looked at the Cardassian whose black eyes stared back at him he never realised the dot that appeared on his back. Before he could move the shot flew forward and struck him in the back throwing him forward into a tree. As the rifle flew from his hand it landed meters away, falling to the floor Ed looked up at the Dominion warrior that stood above him. As the white travelled into the warriors neck Edward waited for the end to come. As he stared into the enraged eyes of the warrior it felt like an eternity had passed before it came. Closing his eyes at the point of firing Ed felt no pain. Opening one eye slowly he saw Wilson grinning. "Didn’t think I was going to let them kill you did you Charlie 3?" Wilson always had the best timing of any one ever. "You know I owe you one," Ed stated getting dragged over Wilson’s shoulder. "Buddy you owe me more than that!" Wilson stated beginning to jog with Ed slung over his shoulder. (Shipping Trawler Archimedes – Personal Quarters - OPS – Lt.Cmdr Edward Gideon – 04:00) =^= I understand how you feel Ed, believe me im no traitor! =^= Edward paused to look into the eyes of John, knowing his abilities Ed knew Wilson would not be able to lie to him. Sensing only the truth Edward nodded. "I told you many years ago I owed you one, what do you want old friend?" Edward stated, Wilson looked uncomfortable for a moment and then spoke. =^= I need shield frequencies to the trawler! I know it is a lot to ask old friend but I need to prevent as much blood shed as possible, =^= Edward paused to consider his options. Wilson had saved his life he was honour bound to assist him in any way possible. But he would be betraying his family and the federation. Wilson had told him of the events with Aragorn and the Admiral. It was a compelling argument however he had been told a different version by command. However he knew Wilson took a great risk here and at the end of the day he trusted the man with his life. Swallowing hard Edward spoke softly. "I'll do it John," Wilson did not smile but made an uncomfortable nod and then spoke again. =^= When all this kicks off keep your head down and look after yourself. I will try. =^= Edward glared at Wilson. "John we both no you cant risk telling the away team im a friendly. You might have leaks; it's a chance I shall have to take old friend. If it does go wrong as it regularly does do then let me say it has been a hell of a time." Before Wilson could reply Edward ended the com and headed towards his bridge duty. (Shipping Trawler Archimedes – Bridge - OPS – Lt.Cmdr Edward Gideon – 0952) Looking at what he was about to send once more Edward looked at the people around him and then pressed send. As the encrypted message left the ship he knew he had just doomed every man and woman on the ship. He had just sold out his uniform and betrayed his people. Placing his hand on the phaser on his belt he debated taking it to his head now. All was about to be lost! Saleke, (jg) - 0933) Having spoken to Ensign Slytherwald Saleke looked over the assembled men in the transporter room and noted their high state of readiness, there was very little talking and that was being done in a near whisper. The eyes of the men were hard and focused and several returned his nod. On an afterthough the Vulcan returned to the supply table and took two extra energy packs for the phaser and also picked up two stun grenades which he placed along with his tricorder in a small bag with a shoulder strap. Having prepared himself with as much equipment as he might need he returned to his place near the transporter pad to await the call. As he stood impassively he began a light meditation to enhance his focus knowing his senses would have to be sharp for the fight. As Saleke meditated he saw in his mind a table or desk; they were possibly in another room onboard the starship. The vision, if vision it was startled the Vulcan from his thoughts and he opened his eyes; finding himself still in the transporter room. Puzzled he returned to his meditation but this time at a deeper level and encountered no distractions there and satisfied he began to regather his focus while wondering what it was he had seen.... and why. John looked at Onyx and smiled, the two of them had worked on a solution earlier in the day and hopefully now the solution was going to present itself. John took a breath and then nodded at the Captain. "We have a solution that should be arriving any second," John stated to the Captain who then proceeded to give orders. Turning to Onyx he spoke again in a lowered tone. "Once we get the shield frequency we are going to have to target the shield generators, we will Proberly have a window of a few seconds before they modulate the shield frequency." "I know, once the trawler is closing, I will keep track of it. The phasers are ready." "If the frequency does not work we are going to need a second plan, also the problem is going to be if the shields are down and the generators destroyed the trawler once we have took it over is going to be defenceless we are going to need more options." "Why do you think I spent all this time in the holodeck... I have thought about that!" "Solutions being?" John asked requiring a muse at the present moment in time. "The Nimitz will have to go head to head with the Defiant and stay between the Trawler and the Defiant. I have also a few klingon tricks that I have set up... it should give them something to think about. I have to target there weapons and the power systems from the starts." "The Defiant shields will not go down easily and the pulse phaser’s are going to prove a problem not to mention the fact the ablative armour and the weapons are some of the most heavily shielded of all systems," "I know, but I also know a few weaknesses that not many knows... spent a week in a Defiant class in the academy, special assigment from my instructor." She had a corner smile."It's not going to be easy but it's feasible." John smiled as well he had commanded a defiant class for a grand total of a year he knew certain exploitable weaknesses but the crew of the Alamo no doubt also knew of these and would exploit the Sovereign classes lack of manageability in comparison with the Defiant class. "We are going to need to watch our flanks with positioning ourselves so close to the trawler we are not going to be that manageable," "That's why we have to push the Defiant away from the Trawler... I know the weaknesses of the Nimitz. Once I get the ok for fire, we better be in synchronise action or it will be a disaster. Computer didn't lie, did a few test, for this you are the best match to team up with me and bring the Alamo down." John opened his mouth to speak as he did the operations officer cut in. "Commander Wilson a secure communiqué for you sir," John smiled and nodded. The consol in front of him blinked up with a series of digits 456903.7. John let Onyx see it and then spoke. "Programme the Phaser’s to that frequency," "Got it!" Onyx hand moved over the console, the phasers were ready. "Phasers are ready!" "Captain Sash ready when you are sir!" John stated. Onyx was starting to get really angry and frustrated. "There isn't any fighters Captain." She continued to monitor the situation and hope the code Wilson gave her was right or they would be in trouble. The signal came from the captain and she wonder why he was signaling Wilson since it was her that was going to do the firing. "Power up main phaser banks, leave photon torpedoes on stand-by. (Reply from anyone) (Posted by Laurence) Stardate:2406.10.06 (USS Nimitz - Bridge- CO- Captain Devan Sash- 0955) Sash watched as the trawler approached their position. he had to time this very carefully, not to drwa the attention of the Alamo. he hoped that his little rouse was working on LeBeau. The man was definitely a stuffed shirt, and wouldn't let such a blatant challenge to his ethics go unanswered. The trick was to jump out in front of the trawler and begin their attack, staying within the effect of the magnetic field, so that the Alamo would only see sensor shadows. As long as they were focused on the decoy ship, it shouldn't be too big a problem. What worried Sash most right now was the complete absence of the fighter escort. There should have been four fighter, and they could account for none. "Are you sure there is no sign of the Sphynx fighter escort," he asked Kateb for the fourth time. (reply Kateb) He shook his head. He really didn't like this situation. The fighters were the one wild card that the trawer had to play with, and it looked like they were playing it well. if the situation weren't so desperate he would have waited for the next trawler, but he had no idea how long that would be. No, it had to be now or never. Hoping it wasn't a mistake, he stood up and began the assault. "Mr, Asoru, bring us around to 386 mark 254 mark 171, engage." He didn't like it one bit. A federation starship following them. Nothing good can come from this. "Sensors are reading something dead ahead, coming out of the asteroid field," came the call from Jacobsen. "On screen," he ordered. The screen was a little staticy, but soon cleared up to see another starship clearing the asteroid fied ahead of them. They were coming at the so quickly Madden was sure that they were going tocollide. "Captain, it's the Nimitz." It was as much a question as a statement of fact. "The Nimitz," Madden repeated, "how can that be? They're back..." The realization came to him too late. "Contact the Alamo." "I've already tried Larry," came the comm, "but all our transmissions are being jammed. It's doubtful that they're seeing any of this if they're after the other Nimitz." "In coming communication." What else, Madden thought. "On screen." A full size picture of the real Devan Sash came on. His dark eyes seemde dto be looking right Madden, who shifted his weight a little and tried to be nonchalant. "What can I do for you Captain?" =^=Captain Devan Sash of the USS Nimitz. "Full power to shields," he called out,"fire up the phasers, lock onto the Nimitz and begin firing at will. If nothing else, hopefully we'll attract the attention of the Alamo. Damn these military types. They're always there to bug me when nothing is happening, but they're never around when you really need them." "Captain, more incoming ships on the sensors." "What now," he hadn't meant to say that out loud. But it was answered. "It'w the fighter squad that's been tailing us. We hit hard and fast. Do not shoot anyone that does not fight. We want to have as little casualties on both sides as we can." Kestra said after tapping her combadge. At that point Tagon decided to enter the transporter room. She had thought that maybe he had second thoughts as to what he had proposed in her office. "Well, Mister Tagon, it is better late than not at all at least." She said to him with a smile. She watched as he made his intentions known that he was going to stand next to her no matter what and with the size he was, no one argued with him. With him so close to her, she looked up and gave him a look that she hoped he could interpret. It was just a bit uncomfortable with him so close to her. He looked down on her with his typical look and knew it was no use trying to say anything then decided to just wait. "Lt. Tagon, can you be so kind as to move your foot from mine as it is causing a sharp pain to my body." Kinkaid turned and Kestra had to try hard to hold back a laugh. She just looked down just in time to see Tagon move his foot. Kestra stretched her mind and could tell that Devan was playing some kind of game with the Alamo and the Trawler. She just hoped that what ever he was doing would be successful and they were able to get over to the trawler. They needed to take it over fast so they and the Nimitz would get out of the battle area. Henre stated flatly and nodded at the CONN Chief's affirmative reply. "Mr. Galk sound red alert and count down at every 500,000 kilometers." "Aye Captain," Galk replied, his lips were pulled back a bit from his teeth in a pleased smile which gave him a ferocious look. Henre was beginning to get the thrill that came to him before every combat, the one that seemed to sharpen all of your senses and made the blood whisper quietly in your ears as time slowed to a crawl. The fact that he was going into battle with another Federation Starship gave him no pleasure nor was he overconfident. Against a Sovereign Class Battle Cruiser he was outgunned and he knew it but he was as well protected and had the advantage of the cloak and what seemed now like a lifetime of combat experience as well as greater manueverability. The initial manuever Alpha was designed to deliver the first blow of the combat and make use of that manueverability after which the Alamo was going to have to move quickly and stealthily to make precision attacks against tactically strategic targets. Despite his bravado before Captain Sash and his men Henre knew that this battle could go either way but he had one ace in the hole; there was no way he was going to allow the Trawler to fall into enemy hands no matter what he had to do. The red alert lights were flashing and klaxon sounding as he considered his opening gambit. "4,500,000 kilometers." Galk called from the Tac Station. The Duranium double hull of the Nimitz and ablative armor posed a considerable barrier to weapons and Captain LaBeau knew he was going to have to concentrate his fire in order to break through her heavy, auto-modulated shielding. "4,000,000 kilometers Captain" Henre looked over at Galk who was staring intently at his sensors, a strange tone in his voice had broken LaBeau's reverie and drawn his attention to his First Officer. "What is it Mr. Galk?" "I don't know Captain, something is not right with our sensor readings." Galk ran through a level 4 diagnostic as he watched the decreasing distance. "3,500,000 kilometers Captain, diagnostic shows sensors are functioning normally however the gravimetric spatial distortion readings from the area of the Nimitz are not matching correct parameters for a Sovereign Class Starship." "Prepare to drop cloak Mr. Damas." "Yes Captain." Henre waited as the Alamo neared the 3,000,000 kilometer mark which was the maximum range for the quantum torpedoes. "Quantum torpedo threshhold reached Captain," Galk called. "Drop cloak Lt. Damas and stand by to reengage, Mr. Galk stand by on torpedoes, Mr Jennings prepare to initiate turn." Captain LaBeau heard the replies of his bridge crew but his mind was on the enemy ship as the Alamo dropped out of cloak. "Quantum torpedoes ready Captain," Galk called but something wasn't right about this situation, LaBeau held the order for an instant. "Captain," Galk repeated. "Torpedoes ready to fire." "Mr. Belite what are sensors showing on combat readiness for the Nimitz?" "No weapons charge registering on the Nimitz Captain." "Captain range is now 2,500,000 kilometers. Request permission to fire torpedoes." "Hold your fire Mr. Galk." Henre had a queasy feeling in the pit of his stomach as he watched the situation unfold as though he was a spectator rather than a Participant. The pieces were beginning to fall together in his mind as the ship grew closer. "2,000,000 kilometers Captain." Called Galk as he continued the countdown. Henre stood up from the Command Chair and was opening his mouth to speak when Belite shouted from the Science station. "Captain, I'm reading phaser fire from the area of the Alamo, they're being attacked!" "Damn!." Henre swore, "It's nothing but a decoy! Mr. Galk blow it. Mr Jennings turn us about and head straight for the Archimedes. Lt. Vandergriff I want full emergency warp as soon as we have our heading. Mr. Damas open a channel to the Archimedes" There was a muted thump as the torpedo left the ship and sped toward its target, as the Alamo turned there was a brilliant flash as it struck and turned the shuttle into an incandescent ball of gas and pieces of shrapnel. "Captain I can't contact the Archimedes, they may be jamming communications." Henre sat back down and chewed his lip as the ship finished its turn and began powering up for its maximum speed. "Very well Mr. Damas reengage cloak. We have a band of traitors and deceivers to bring to justice." (Reply: None) (Posted by Charles) Stardate:2406.10.06 (USS Nimitz - Transport 1 - CMO- Lt. "Captain, four Void Sphynx fighters are approaching from the asteroid field." ~Damn, they were playing the same game we were. Dumb, bumb, bumb. I should have expected that. Must be getting old.~ "Shields to maximum," he called out. "Target the fighters and begin firing. I want a tactical display on the top right corner of the screen, looking for any anomolies or tachyon signatures that might indicate a cloaked vessel." The ship rocked as a series of quantum torpedoes struck the shields. He could hear the discharge sound as they returned fire with the phasers. "We'll need to be ready to transport the away team at a moments notice," Sash said. "We may only have a few moments to do it, so be ready." There was now a constant drumming as the fighters continuously fired, hammering away at the Nimitz's shields. Another volley of torpedoes struck and something exploded on the bridge. "Damn it," Sash cursed, "this is rediculous. Target one of the fighters. Fire a full volley of torpedoes and concentrate all phaser fire on that one ship." Moments later ne of the fighters exploded. This proved to be a truism more often than not. As the last set of mines were set there was a sudden explossion. Apparently the mines were deployed as one of the fighters was attempting to make it's way through a small blind spot in the Nimitz's sensor grid. It flew right into the group of mines, detonating all of them at the same time. With only two fighters remaining Sash was begining to feel a little better, but he also knew that the Alamo was hurtling towards them. Onyx was managing to keep the remaining fighters busy. It was time. "Helm," he called out "set heading to 247mark6." A moment later Asoru said, "Sir, that takes us in a collision course with the trawler." Sash looked at him as if saying, "And your point is...?" Asoru shut his mouth and set the coordinates. "Engage, at full impulse." Sash said. The ship lept towards the trawler. The trawler came speeding towards their view screen. "When I say, veer off hard to port." He could feel Asoru relax at that order. "Mr. Wilson, it's time. Perform your miracle." (reply Wilson) "Prepare to transport assault team on Lt. Commander Wilson's mark," Sash ordered.
